Are local sports classes and/or activities available for kids?

There are tons of activities for kids at the school, through the embassy, and on the local economy. If your kid likes it then you can probably find it in Egypt. You can even ski at Ski Egypt inside the Mall of Egypt in 6th of October. - Dec 2021
Yes, there is a local little league, boxing, soccer, swimming, ballet/dance. You need to look around for these at different sport centers. However, if your kid is competitive in anything, I would definitely research that first. Maadi House, the embassy "community center" offers classes in tennis, archery, karate, swimming lessons. There is also a Cub Scout pack (Covid has stopped it for now), and a very active Boy Scout Troop and Girl Scouts. - Feb 2021
Maadi House has swimming lessons, tennis, tae kwon do, and archery (and maybe others). Osana Family Wellness offers some kid activities. CSA does ballet, gymnastics and Tae Kwon Do. There are also music classes around. CAC does many after school activities. - Jan 2018

There are sports available through just about all of the schools -- soccer, swimming, and track at a minimum. Also there is a soccer league and a t-ball league in the Maadi neighborhood regardless of the school you kids attend or where you live.
