What is your home city/country? How long is the trip to post from there, with what connections? How easy/difficult is it to travel to this city/country?

Virginia, USA. It's far, but easier than many other places in Africa. Direct flights to Atlanta or Newark, but even those are 16 hours. Plenty of options to connect through Europe or the Middle East as well. - Apr 2023


Home is Northeast USA. It is relatively straightforward to get there, but a very long journey. May be around 20-24 hours door to door. - Mar 2023


Washington, D.C. 19 hours of flying. Some direct flights; or connect through Europe. It's a long flight, but many flights are available and cost about $1200-1500 round trip if you're paying for your own ticket. Could be worse. South African Airlines is no longer flying internationally, which is too bad. - Jun 2022


Washington, DC. Easy, but long direct flights or connections in Europe. Sometimes very cheap - $850 or less to the US via London. Can also get to the west coast via Asia and there are many special fares. Johannesburg airport is about 35 minutes from Pretoria and is a global hub. - Jan 2020


Travel to the US is relatively easy with direct flights to Atlanta (16 hours) or to DC via a stopover mid-flight in Accra or Dakar. There are easy flight connections to Europe (12 hours) then to the US (6-8 hours). - Dec 2019
