Tashkent - Post Report Question and Answers

Are qualified veterinarians and/or good kennel services available? Do animals need to be quarantined upon entry to the country? Are there other considerations regarding pets that are particular to this country?

There seem to be a few vets, but not many. Small yards, and most parks don't allow pets. People with pets seem to do ok, but wish they had more green space options. - Aug 2022

There are a couple vets in town and one of them will make house calls. There is no quarantine. It is fairly easy to get large dogs into the country, but is more difficult to get them out. They come in on the Lufthansa Cargo plane, but have to go out of Almaty, because Uzbek Air doesn't have enough space for anything larger than a 500 series kennel, and then there are only 3 spaces, per flight. - Sep 2018

No kennel services, so pet owners swap with each other. Veterinarians seem sketchy. Serious restrictions and logistical issues with airlines getting pets in and out, i.e. very expensive. - Aug 2018

No quarantine necessary. There is a vet who caters to expats. No kennels that I've heard of. Generally, you ask a friend or colleague to take care of your pet. - Aug 2014
