Herzliya Pituach - Post Report Question and Answers

Are there personal security concerns to be aware of at this post? Please describe.

Not personal security. Overall, this is a pretty safe place, other than the occasional rockets, for which there are good emergency plans. Kids roam around freely and people feel safe walking after dark. - Aug 2023

Pretty safe on the streets in Herzliya. Walking alone even at night in the neighborhoods is a common thing. Bus stops safe. There are problems with petty theft of locked bikes, unattended cell phones on beach, car break-ins. The big cities you have to watch for pickpockets like most foreign countries. Rockets can happen from time to time. Houses have shelters and you’ll be briefed. The 11 day conflict in 2021 was stressful but we were safe at home. - Mar 2022

Be aware - if bomb siren goes off, follow the locals. - Sep 2021

This is a danger post due to the political situation. It is mostly quiet but the tension simmers just below the surface at all times. It goes from quiet to crazy very quickly as we saw last November during the 8-day war. There have been quite a few buglaries but all houses come equipped with alarm systems and most have window bars. However, it is incredibly safe for kids and they enjoy much more freedom here than they would in most US cities. - Aug 2013

We are not affected by the terrorism, but there has been a definite increase in home break-ins since we arrived two years ago. Since our arrival, several embassy homes have had successful or attempted break-ins. - Apr 2006
