Are preschools available? Day care? Are these expensive? What has been your experience with them, if any? Do the schools provide before- and/or after-school care?

Great day care options in Punta Carretas and Pocitos, but they do fill up so contact early (Mafalda, Snoopy). Very affordable. They only have half-day options for children under 3. We supplement with a nanny in the afternoon and it is quite affordable. Day care + nanny is cheaper than daycare alone in DC. - Aug 2022

It's very expensive; the American school charges more than 1000 USD per month for preschool. - Apr 2019

There are many affordable preschools in Spanish; I don't have experience with them but friends who do seem to be happy with them. - Aug 2018

Local pre-schools and daycares are available but I did not use them. - Jun 2017

They are, but super expensive. - Oct 2016

I don't have experience with preschools here but I have not heard any negative comments about them and they are a great place for your toddler to learn Spanish quickly. The American school offers after school activities and a late bus that leaves the school at 4:45. - Aug 2016

There are several families with young children who have used day care centers, but I have no experience with this. - Mar 2012
