Winnipeg - Post Report Question and Answers

Are there any unusual problems with insects or other infestations in housing?

Mosquitoes are horrendous in summer, but controlled in urban areas. West Nile Virus is a slight concern, but a relief after living in malaria and dengue zones. Deer ticks (Lyme carriers) are a concern, but be diligent and look for ticks in spring and summer months after outdoor activities. - Apr 2016

As far as we've heard, mosquitoes were a problem before, but the city has had it in control. They're everywhere in the summer if you are out in the woods, or in provincial parks. But so far, not that bad. - Aug 2013
