Do you have any recommendations regarding mobile phones? Did you keep your home-country plan or use a local provider?

We used a local provider (Jio). It was very inexpensive, but we had to get support in initiating cell service through the consulate since we didn’t have local IDs (passports were not accepted). We used Google Fi to fill the gap. - Aug 2021


I always use an unlocked phone with local SIM. Very cheap, like 13 USD for 10GB data plan - Dec 2020

Everyone here communicates via cell phone. People you meet once will ask for your cell number upon meeting you. - May 2008
