Are qualified veterinarians and/or good kennel services available? Do animals need to be quarantined upon entry to the country? Are there other considerations regarding pets that are particular to this country?

Yes, there is a quarantine requirement. - Dec 2023

There are vets, but I don't know a lot about them. They seem reliable. Pet need to quarantine (these rules frequently change, especially in COVID). This is a Muslim-majority city. You may have issues with staff not wanting to walk your dog or not allowing your dog in a hired car/taxi. - Oct 2021

Yes, there are several good vets. My pet needed a two week quarantine upon entry and lost at least 3 pounds before we got it (from airport to delivery to our house). Some pets were known to die after arriving in country (within a few weeks) but I don't know the reason why. I would think carefully before shipping an elderly pet to go into quarantine based on what I saw and heard, although it was probably quite uncommon. There were several good vets in country, and also good animal hospitals, but not in my neighborhood. We did an hour commute each way for a week at one point when my pet was hospitalized. - Sep 2020

Yes, lots of good pet services are around. Imported pets need a brief quarantine. Work with a pet importer to handle all the paperwork. Yes, that's expensive, but it's better than trying to navigate dozens of offices by yourself. - Feb 2018

Yes they do. - Jun 2015

Yes - though I think some people were able to pay a premium to reduce the quarantine time. - Jun 2012

Up to 14 days, though most people got their pets after a shorter period of quarantine. - Jul 2011

Yes, you go through Groovey Pets--and they tell you what paper work to do and they pick your pet up at the airport. The quarantine is supposed to be two weeks but it never really lasts that long. Our pets were rather spontaneously delivered eight days after we arrived. They called to say, "We are bringing the pets" and I said, "Can I go buy cat litter first?" Voila, the pets were here within two hours. - Jul 2011

Yes, and it was not the most pleasant experience. - Dec 2010

Yes, two weeks. Diplomats also. The Clinic is next to the airport and very good; clean and well run. You can visit your pet every day. - Nov 2010

See above. - Jul 2010
