What is the availability of international schools? What has been your general experience with them, if any?

I know that people are pretty happy with the American School in Muscat TAISM and the British Academy as well. Unfortunately, I cannot personally give any more input on this. - Aug 28, 2017
Children from the Embassy currently attend both the American School (TAISM) and the American British Academy (ABA). Parents and students seem to really like both schools and the facilities for each are state-of-the-art. TAISM follows an American curriculum, while ABA follows an British system and offers the IB program. - Oct 25, 2014
Schools are great here, but class size seems to disappoint high-school students. Our oldest is about to turn four and will starts at TAISM next year. The school has received rave reviews from families we know and the staff and facilities appear to be excellent. We also know families with kids who attend the American British Academy to pursue an IB education and others who went to the French school. All were pleased. - Jun 7, 2012
TAISM and ABA are both good. ABA is closer to embassy housing, TAISM is the "official" school and is very well funded. - May 3, 2012
There is The International School at Muscat (TAISM), American British Academy (ABA), and British School.98% go to TAISM.All have different curriculums, but it is fround upon to take your kid somewhere where the US does NOT sponsor. - Aug 25, 2011
TAISM and ABA are both wonderful schools. ABA has more of a sport feel, and Taism is more into the arts. - Feb 20, 2011
My children attended The American International School of Muscat. It was a wonderful experience. Teachers were extremely happy to work there and compensated well...they enjoyed their jobs and our children benefitted from that. If I could choose one school in the world...this would be it. There is also ABA and another british school...people seemed to be satisfied with those as well. - Apr 1, 2010
TAISM, ABA, BSM all great schools. Some really enjoyed it, some had issues not so much with the school but with a particular class or teacher. - Feb 12, 2010
The American International School of Muscat (TAISM) is most popular among embassy families. I don't have kids, but I've heard uniformly rave reviews about the school. The school itself is gorgeous. Some embassy families also use the American-British Academy. - Jan 21, 2010
Muscat has lots of school options. My children have attended The American International School of Muscat (TAISM -- KG/1st & 6th/7th) We have been thrilled with the teachers and opportunities the kids have had in swimming, music, drama, and the Discover Oman Program. I have also subbed extensively at the American British Academy (ABA) which follows an IB program. Both schools are exceptional with dedicated, professional and energetic staff. We will be moving our youngest to ABA this next year as we feel the IB program for 2nd grade is stronger and will suit his learning style better. There is also a British School; a Philippine School; an Egyptian School; a Sri Lankan school.... - Mar 19, 2009
The American International School in Muscat (TAISM) is reputedly one of the best international schools with good college placements and a lovely campus. There is also the American British Academy (ABA), which has a good local reputation. - Feb 18, 2008
