English-language newspapers and TV available? Cost?
There are local newspapers that can be purchased for varying costs of around $1 to a few. You have two options for TV here. If you are a diplomat, you have access to AFN, if not you can get DSTV, a South African satellite TV provider. DSTV isn't too costly, and you can get several American shows, but it's jokingly called DrySeason TV as the band that they use for the signal pretty much completely cuts out when it rains. - Dec 24, 2012
AFN for those who are eligible, otherwise DSTV (south African Sattelite TV). - Aug 3, 2010
