Cairo

Knowing what you know now, would you still move to this city?

Yes. - Jan 3, 2018
No, I would not. Again, I didn't love Cairo. It had some nice qualities but overall I wouldn't come back. - Sep 9, 2017
Yes. - May 16, 2017
Yes, absolutely. - Jan 30, 2016
Once was plenty - Jan 29, 2016
Yes, absolutely. - Oct 8, 2014
Probably not the way it is right now. It has dropped down to a 2 year tour, but we got slammed with the ordered departure. Quality of life has really dropped over the last few years. Tourism is way down and extremism is up (in place of mass protests). Egypt is an amazing place with phenomenal history, but it's very tough to enjoy under current circumstances. And did I mention the power outages during the hot summer??? Complaints aside, we're grateful for this unique opportunity and we'll cherish the fond memories (and photographs!) we're making. - Aug 19, 2014
Yes, but two years is plenty. - Aug 19, 2014
YES. - May 28, 2014
My first two years in Cairo were great but the country has gone hill recently. I would have left after two years here if I had had the choice. - Apr 2, 2014
No, and counting down until I can leave! - Mar 27, 2014
Absolutely. We went for the adventure -- and that is exactly what we got. - Jul 23, 2013
Yes. - Jul 17, 2013
Yes, I like living dangerously. I guess I have a bit of a death wish. - Jun 16, 2013
Absolutely. I've really enjoyed my time here and I know that I will come back again, at least for a visit. It has been a very interesting time, especially with all the changes that Egypt is going through, and I know that I have been witnessing history. I wish all the best for this country and its kind people. - Jun 7, 2013
Probably not, although I have had (and continue to have) a good time. It is more about making the best of the hand you are dealt. If you have to come here, you can make it work, but I can't say I would do it again. Living through the revolution and the constant threat of being evacuated again is stressful. Egypt is on a slow decline -- and may continue to be for the next several years. - May 22, 2013
I would not wish this post on anyone. - May 12, 2013
Yes, I would do it again, but perhaps not four years. It's never boring, and I can't say that I love the place, or will ever come back, but I don't regret the four years. And yes, I would do it again. - May 12, 2013
In a heartbeat! We have loved it, and would have no issues coming back here again, even with all the post-revolution changes---assuming, of course, that things don't go downhill more than they have to date! - Feb 1, 2013
No. And when I leave, it will be with the intention of never returning. I had wanted to come to Egypt for quite some time, and it's been a major disappointment. - Feb 14, 2013
NOOOO! - Mar 31, 2013
Yes. But we'd like to be recognized for the sacrifices we make. This would be as simple as seeing post management demonstrate that they care about our safety and security and recognize the very real hardships and dangers we face. - Mar 26, 2013
Absolutely. It's an experience that eveyone should have at least once in their lives---unless you have already lived in a war zone. - Feb 13, 2013
No way! Don't come. - Jan 18, 2013
Yes. Even with all of the unrest, Cairo isn't too bad! - Nov 27, 2012
Not now, with the political unrest. Perhaps when the govt stabalizes, and when our son is school age and could attend CAC.Not a bad post, but the future there is very uncertain right now. - Sep 20, 2011
Probably, at least for a short tour. - Aug 4, 2011
Absolutely. - Aug 4, 2011
Absolutely. - Jul 19, 2011
Yes, any day! - Jun 5, 2011
Yes, I had a great time. - Sep 22, 2010
If I never have to step foot in this country again it will be too soon. - Jun 26, 2010
Yes, there is a lot to see and do here, and Egyptians are extraordinarily friendly. That being said, I think I will be ready to leave after two years, as the crowds and pollution are getting to me. - Dec 2, 2009
Yes, it's been good for our family. - May 12, 2008
