Are preschools available? Day care? Are these expensive? What has been your experience with them, if any? Do the schools provide before- and/or after-school care?
QSI, Dili International School, and Ba Futura offer preschool classes on a half-day basis. I don't know the costs but I think they are reasonable. - Sep 26, 2017
I don't have any experience but there are some available and the parents seem satisfied. - May 30, 2017
There is a private English-speaking preschool for 2-year-olds called Dili Sprouts. It is run out of the QSI Dili campus. QSI offers half-day preschool for 3- and 4-year olds. DIS also offers preschool. - Apr 25, 2013
ame schools as above. Both schools are crazy expensive which isn't a concern if your children are older then preschool. We have two children who are preschool age which is a really money drainer. There is no way you are getting what you pay for. Not to say the schools isn't fun and do a good job but for a preschool to charge as much as my college tuition-- there is nothing you can be teaching my cutie for four hours a day that warrants that. We do have one currently attending QSI and loves it and our younger will be attending Dili Sprouts, a small preschool based out of the home of a fellow expat. There is another daycare type facility at a place called "one more bar". I never checked it out because I couldn't get myself past the name haa! There is a playgroup pay-as-you-bring them program at DIS that I believe is ten dollars for something like three hours. But you must be with your child. Most people with children have a Nanny. Local Timorese are cheapest at around 150 a month but they usually don't speak the language. Most expats employ a Philippine who clean, help with the kids and speak English. We pay our Nanny/ Housekeeper 375 and she works M-F 9-5. - Mar 12, 2010
Both schools offer preschool for 3 and 4 year olds. There is no daycare in Dili. Most people hire a nanny if daycare is needed. - Feb 23, 2010
